Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) is in its 50th year this year, since Frank Drake
discovered his formula and it was established.
The search continues on and with the new SETI/Boinc projects people have been cranking out data
on home computers and much has changed, in a way, to help mankind.
In the meantime, the search for ET goes on, with help from those using their computers and donations
to keep it going.
Please do your part to help in this endeavor, by using your computer and giving a donation
to continue the work.
Spring ahead, Fall back! Extended DST in 2011, for those areas that observe the change. We change our clocks in 2011 in those
areas to DST at 2AM on the 2nd Sunday in March(March 13): Reverts back to Standard time at 2AM on the 1st Sunday in November(Nov
6 2011). <Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study
is complete.>
First Date change in 2007
On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change
dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday of March and end the first
Sunday of November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right
to revert the Daylight Saving Time back to the 2005 time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete.
A Safety Reminder!
Many Fire Departments encourage people to change the battery in the Smoke/Fire Detector & or Carbon Monoxide Sensor when
they change their clocks, because it can be so easy to forget otherwise. "A working Smoke/Fire detector more than
doubles a person's chances of surviving a home fire," says William McNabb of the Troy Fire Department in Michigan. More
than 90 percent of homes in the United States have smoke detectors, but one-third are estimated to have worn-out or
have missing batteries. Please change the batteries and test the unit, for the lives of your family and loved ones! Thank
you and your family will, too.
We learn about the SETI@home/BOINC Projects at our seti2 Group at Yahoo, where you can learn to use your home computer for
scientific projects. We post and discuss some Astronomy & Space info, too. Hope you enjoy your browse here and at the seti2
Group, by looking at the Photos and Links. Thank you. Lee
Please go to the following Link to read about the SETI/Boinc Project and how
you can use your computer for the research of Cancer, Diabetes, HIV,the Weather and more.
You can also click on the BOINC heading at the top of the page.
It is a worthwhile scientific venture and you can use your computer at home while it is
running. The download may seem a little complicated, but our seti2 Group at Yahoo!, can give any advice you may
need. We also have a Team you can join after you download a project.
